Jeffrey is a visionary leader with a passion for transforming the senior care industry. With extensive experience in healthcare technology and a deep understanding of the unique needs of seniors, he founded REL Technology in 2019 with the mission to provide innovative solutions that enhance the lives of seniors. Jeffrey’s strategic mindset, exceptional communication skills, and strong leadership abilities make him instrumental in guiding New Vista’s growth and facilitating cutting-edge technologies that empower seniors and improve their quality of life.
Barbara Larkin
Vice President
Barbara Larkin is a counsellor in private practice in New Westminster with a focus on the treatment of anxiety. She is a past Commissioner on the City of Burnaby Parks, Recreation and Cultural Commission; is a Committee member appointed to the College of Opticians of British Columbia and is currently the Secretary Treasurer of the Royal Canadian Legion #83.
As an adult student, Barbara received a Master of Social Work while raising two children and working full-time. Her MSW thesis was on the topic of “End of Life Care in Long Term Care.” She previously worked for Fraser Health Authority as a social worker and mental health therapist.
As a member of the Board of Directors, Barbara is pleased to bring to The New Vista Society knowledge and experience in the community, healthcare, small business ownership, and board governance.
Sonny Dhillon
Treasurer
Sonny Dhillon, CPA, CA is the founding partner and business advisor at Intel CPA. Sonny received his Bachelor’s in Accounting from BCIT in 2007 and became a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of British Columbia in 2010. He was employed as a manager at one of Canada’s leading national accounting firms before joining Intel CPA. With an extensive background spanning over two decades in public accounting, Sonny possesses a deep understanding of the complex financial regulations and tax laws across diverse industries. He has a genuine ability to connect with business owners and key decision makers to help them navigate complex tax and regulatory compliance issues that impact their organization. Sonny has a passion for community involvement and engagement. He has served on the boards of various not-for-profit organizations.
Alisa Bailey
Director
Alisa is the owner and president of Waystone Consulting Ltd. a project leadership consulting firm focused on the design and construction industry. Alisa has 25 years experience in the construction industry, within both the public and private sector, and has led projects and teams in a variety of industry sectors, including social housing. Alisa has also held senior leadership roles at a full-service design and construction firm and at BC Housing.
Alisa has extensive experience in leading teams at both a project and organizational level and is passionate about creating collaborative environments where every member of the team can leverage their strengths to fully support the team. Alisa is excited to bring her skills in design, construction and leadership to support New Vista's growth and reach within senior's care and affordable housing.

James Wang
Director
James has a long career serving in public sector. He strongly believes in the importance of the public school system and served two terms as Burnaby school trustee. James has a passion for community involvement and volunteering. He was first elected to the Burnaby City Council in 2014 and have continued working to make a strong, vibrant city by improving quality of life and protecting affordability. James continues to help create a strong sense of community. One of the biggest issues for our community is affordable housing. In his position as a Director, James is guiding New Vista on finding collaborative and innovative solutions so people on all ages can find a home that fits their needs.
Antara Deb
Director
Antara Deb, originally from India, moved to Canada in 2008 after being born and raised amidst India's rich cultural tapestry.
With a degree in Architecture from India, Antara has excelled as an IT Advisor at BC Hydro for over fifteen years. Beyond her professional achievements, she has become a force for good through her volunteer work with numerous charitable non-profit organizations.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Antara's dedication only deepened. As Vice-President of the Stand with Asians Coalition, she actively promotes anti-racism and fights against racial discrimination, addressing the surge in global and local racism and hate crimes.
Antara's community involvement extends to serving as Vice Chair of the Parent Advisory Committee (PAC), a United Way Community Champion, and a member of the Touching Lives Foundation Advisory Committee. Her commitment to diversity and inclusion, rooted in her South Asian Canadian heritage, serves as a bridge to foster understanding among cultures.
Currently serving as a Board of Director of the New Vista Society, she brings her diverse perspectives to building an inclusive community and enhancing healthcare options for seniors.
Michael Hwang
Director
Michael Hwang is a lawyer with more than 30 years’ experience advising diverse not-for-profit organizations. He has also served on the boards of many local and international organizations dedicated to community development, including Burnaby Multicultural Society, Burnaby Chamber of Commerce, Presbyterian World Service & Development, and Sharons Credit Union. Michael’s advocacy for culturally sensitive senior care began in 2001, when he organized the first Korean Heritage Festival in Burnaby, bringing the community together to raise awareness and support for seniors with special needs. He is excited to join the New Vista Society’s Board, which has embraced culturally sensitive care for the Korean community in our new care home. Michael continues to practice law on a part-time basis, while operating a heritage theatre to promote reconciliation and social justice through performing arts.

Perry is a seasoned entrepreneur with a strong foundation in the lumber industry. As the president of North Mitchell Lumber Company, he has achieved international recognition for his expertise in manufacturing and distributing wood products, with successful operations in China, the United States, and Canada. In addition to his accomplishments in the lumber industry, Perry has also established and developed successful ventures in trucking and recycling, strategically selling the latter after significant growth. Perry's portfolio includes diverse real estate holdings in residential, commercial, agricultural, and industrial properties and he continues to lead successful construction projects. Beyond business, Perry is an active community leader, known for his commitment to local development initiatives. Outside of work, he enjoys spending quality time with his daughters and pursuing outdoor activities such as skiing, golfing, and traveling the globe .
