Electrical Infrastructure Upgrades Underway at Winch Tower
Project will improve reliability and support future building and neighbourhood upgrades
New Vista Society is moving forward with a major electrical infrastructure upgrade at Winch Tower as part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining safe, reliable, and comfortable housing for residents.
The project includes a series of building-wide improvements designed to modernize the electrical system and better support residents’ day-to-day needs. The scope of work includes:
- Providing two dedicated power outlets in each unit for appliances such as microwaves and portable air conditioners.
- Upgrading all 175-unit breaker panels with new breakers.
- Installing 14 new hallway sub-panels with updated breakers.
- Replacing the building’s three existing oil-filled transformers with three new dry-type transformers.
The project has also been coordinated closely with BC Hydro, which is providing a new dedicated transformer for the building. The additional capacity will not only support Winch Tower’s upgrades, but also help accommodate future improvements within the surrounding neighbourhood.
Projects like this are an important part of New Vista’s broader capital improvement program and help ensure residents continue to have safe, dependable housing for years to come.
