Honouring Filipino Heritage Month and the Community’s Contributions to Canada

New Vista Society recognizes the enduring legacy of Filipino Canadians

June is Filipino Heritage Month, a time to celebrate the enduring legacy and contributions of Filipino Canadians who now call Canada home.

The Filipino community is one of Canada’s fastest-growing populations, and the third largest Asian community in the country. With Philippine Independence Day on June 12, the month serves as a meaningful blend of history and cultural celebration.

Due to the Filipinos’ recognized expertise in nursing and health care, they are strengthening Canada’s health care system and supporting the well-being of Canadian families. Beyond health care, Filipino Canadians have also made their profound impact across other industry sectors including education, arts, business, and public service.

The New Vista Society stands in solidarity with the Filipino community’s strength and resilience during the past month’s tragedy at the Vancouver Lapu-Lapu Festival.

We encourage everyone to recognize about the culture and traditions of the Filipino community and support the warmth of their shared humanity and hospitality.
