Honouring Truth and Reconciliation
New Vista Society reflects on the legacy of residential schools and reaffirms our commitment to reconciliation
The New Vista Society acknowledges the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, a day which serves as an important reminder of the significant impact of the Canadian residential school system on Indigenous children, families, and communities.
Both the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day take place on September 30. The orange shirt is a symbol of the stripping away of culture, freedom and self-esteem experienced by Indigenous children over generations.
We encourage for everyone to celebrate and recognize our Indigenous communities, reaffirming our individual and collective commitments to reconciliation.
