Japanese Nursing Students Visit New Vista for Long-Term Care Learning

Tsuruga University students tour Burnaby facilities to learn about Canadian long-term care practices

Earlier this month, New Vista Healthcare and Housing had the pleasure of welcoming 20 nursing students and their instructor from Tsuruga Nursing University in Tsuruga, Japan, near Kyoto. The visit to New Vista’s South Burnaby facilities was part of an educational tour to learn about long-term care practices in Canada.

New Vista staff welcomed the opportunity to exchange knowledge and perspectives with the Japanese students. The group began with a tour of the facility, followed by a presentation from New Vista Manager of Care, Vivian Vega, where she shared insights into New Vista’s admission and discharge processes.

The students were highly engaged and asked thoughtful questions, particularly around financial aspects, and related medical and clinical issues.

“We hope this experience will enrich their education and contribute meaningfully to their future nursing practice,” said Vega of the visit.
