Raising Awareness for Alzheimer’s Awareness Month
January is Alzheimer’s Awareness Month in Canada
January is Alzheimer’s Awareness Month in Canada. Alzheimer's disease is a chronic neurodegenerative disease that destroys brain cells, causing thinking ability and memory to deteriorate over time. Alzheimer's disease is not a normal part of aging and is irreversible and it specifically impacts a person’s ability to understand, think, remember, and communicate. This then will impact a person’s ability to make decisions, perform simple tasks or follow a conversation.
The New Vista Society is in support of raising awareness affected by the serious illness of dementia. We encourage for us all be supportive with people living with dementia and reduce the stigma related to it.
