Paul McDonell Residence

The Paul McDonell Residence provides 125 units of affordable rental housing and features: 22 bachelor apartments; 50 one-bedroom apartments; 42 two-bedroom apartments; and 11 three-bedroom apartments. The building was developed, in partnership with BC Housing, to provide housing to people with a low to moderate income.  As such, there is a gross maximum household income: for units less than two bedrooms: $75,753.00 (2021 figure), for units with two bedrooms or more: $117, 080.

The Paul McDonell Residence does not offer rent subsidy.

Opened in 2022, Paul McDonell Residence is a 14 story concrete high rise operated by The New Vista Society. It is located at 6551 Sussex Avenue, a five minute walk from MetroTown in Burnaby and 10 minute walk from beautiful Central Park, a 90-hectare urban park that offers; a Pitch and Put Golf Course, a baseball field, an outdoor pool, children’s play areas, forested trails and duck ponds.  Schools in the area include:

• Elementary: K – 7 Maywood Community
• Secondary: 8 – 12 Burnaby South Secondary
• Early French Immersion: K – 7 Marlborough Elementary
• Secondary French Immersion: 8 – 12 Moscrop Secondary

Housing at the Paul McDonell Residence is based on a variety of criteria and an application is required. Applications do not guarantee tenancy. It is impossible to predict how quickly an apartment will become available as availability is based on the number of apartment turnovers and the needs of the applicants applying for housing.

This is a NO SMOKING, NO VAPING, NO PETS building. Limited reserved underground parking is available on site at a reasonable monthly rate.
